Press Release – Wednesday, July 2, 2025 – The Care Pavilion strengthens its role as a key space for dialogue on gender-responsive financing and local development
This Wednesday at the Care Pavilion, during the FfD4, the agenda focused on forging new international alliances, connecting governments and multilateral actors, and recognizing care work as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
Seville, July 2, 2025 — This Wednesday at the Care Pavilion, as part of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), the agenda focused on strengthening new international alliances, bridging government and multilateral actors, and recognizing care work as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
The day began with the Global Alliance for Care Breakfast, a strategic gathering of Alliance (GAC) members convened by its Technical Secretariat. This morning session provided a space to align shared positions and reinforce coordination among partners at a key moment for multilateralism and collective action.
Later in the morning, Spain’s Ministry of Equality hosted the event “Financing Care through Equality: Toward a Feminist International Alliance for Development”, highlighting the urgency of placing gender equality at the core of global financial commitments. Feminist voices from across regions shared proposals to move toward a fairer, more equitable, and people-centered global financial architecture.
At midday, the Pavilion hosted the official launch of the initiative presented to the Seville Action Platform: “Investing in Care for Equality and Prosperity”, a global proposal promoted by the governments of Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, together with UN Women, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the Global Alliance for Care. The initiative seeks to transform development financing systems by recognizing care work as a driver of equality, economic resilience, and social cohesion. The launch was backed by numerous countries and international institutions, consolidating a shared agenda toward a new care-centered economic pact.
In the afternoon, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) facilitated the participatory workshop “Investing in Our Future”, focusing on how to integrate care and support systems into long-term social and economic development strategies.
The day concluded with the side event “Financing Local Economic Development for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth”, organized by the Andalusian Fund of Municipalities for International Solidarity (FAMSI). This session spotlighted the strategic role of local economic development (LED) and the need to strengthen the autonomy and financial capacity of subnational governments.
Activities at the Care Pavilion continue tomorrow, driven by the collective commitment of members of the Global Alliance for Care. Thanks to their efforts, the Pavilion has become a key reference point in the pursuit of a fairer, more sustainable, life-centered economy.
Thursday, July 3 marks the closing day of the Care Pavilion with a rich agenda of reflection, collective creation, and strategy. The day will begin with the Morning Coffee of the Alliance, an informal space for members to share perspectives. The program will continue with sessions on shared responsibility from an intersectional lens, a performance on connection and listening, and a conversation on new narratives from care and solidarity-based economies. At the end of the day, the Post-FfD4 Strategy Session will bring together the Global Alliance for Care and its partners to define next strategic steps. The official closing session will reflect on everything experienced during the week, projecting the collective commitment into the future.
