The Global Alliance for Care at the 4th Finance for Development Conference
The 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) brings together global, regional, and national stakeholders to explore innovative, inclusive, and sustainable approaches to financing development.
The conference seeks to foster dialogue and collaboration to realign financial systems with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a context marked by overlapping crises- climate change, deepening inequalities, and fiscal constraints.
The event convenes government representatives, international financial institutions, civil society, private sector actors, and academia to assess financing gaps, identify policy solutions, and promote investments prioritizing social justice, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. Key themes include domestic resource mobilization, debt justice, climate finance, international tax cooperation, and the role of development banks.
The Financing for Development Conference provides a vital platform for reimagining economic and financial systems that prioritize human well-being and social justice. There is growing recognition that financing for development must move beyond traditional macroeconomic indicators. It must actively support transformative policies and investments that center care as essential to sustainable development. This includes expanding public investment in care services, ensuring decent work for paid care workers, and integrating gender-responsive budgeting and planning into national and global frameworks.
Global Alliance for Care (GAC) members have seized this opportunity through several care-related events and initiatives, which are compiled in the following GAC Care Agenda for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development.
