The Institute for Socioeconomic Studies (INESC) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-partisan organization based in Brasília. For over 40 years, we have actively engaged in public policy alongside allied civil society organizations and social movements to have a voice in national and international forums for debate on public policy and human rights, with an emphasis on monitoring the public budget. We believe that understanding and interpreting this budget is essential to promoting and strengthening citizenship and guaranteeing the rights of all citizens. Currently, we work on thematic areas such as: socio-environmental issues and climate transition, children, adolescents, and youth, the right to the city, gender, racial, and ethnic equality (marginalized women, migrants, quilombolas, and indigenous peoples), fiscal justice, public transparency and social participation, political system reform, and the defense of democracy.
