There are many texts on phytotherapy like this one, none of which should be regarded as an absolute source of truth. This is an evolving body of knowledge: the sheer variety of plants makes it impossible to systematize them all or fully understand their healing properties.

Keeping a personal journal of medicinal plants can help document experiences and knowledge passed down through oral traditions, books and conversations. These contributions can continue to enrich this valuable field, which requires openness to learning and a willingness to share information and experiences.

Most medicinal plants have multiple healing properties. One person may be familiar with one use, while someone else may know another. In this way, collective knowledge about plants continues to grow.
