This study has been developed within the framework of the joint program Closing Gaps: Social Protection for Women in Mexico, created by the International Labor Organization (ILO) office for Mexico and Cuba, in close collaboration with the Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare of Jalisco (STPS Jalisco) and with the valuable contributions of various government institutions, both at the federal and local levels, as well as organizations of domestic workers, employers and civil society.
The purpose of this document, financed by the United Nations Joint Fund for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG Fund), is to contribute to the efforts of the Mexican State to dignify paid domestic work in the country and to ensure that those who perform it -mostly women- enjoy the conditions and rights inherent to decent work, mainly access to social security.
