More than 50 activities open to the public: the Global Alliance for Care at the XVI Regional Conference on Women in Mexico City

The Global Alliance for Care (AGC) will actively participate in the XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean (CRM), to be held from August 12 to 15, with a new edition of the Care Pavilion.

Mexico City, August 4, 2025 – The Global Alliance for Care (AGC) will actively participate in the XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean (CRM), to be held from August 12 to 15, with a new edition of the Care Pavilion: an innovative, participatory, and open space to discuss, learn, and share experiences on care.

In this edition, the Pavilion will be part of the City of Care, an initiative of the Mexico City Government, which will be set up on the esplanade of the Diurna Secondary School No. 16 “Pedro Díaz”, from August 11 to 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This free and open space will offer all kinds of services and activities related to support, care, health, culture, guidance, and information about Mexico City's Public Care System. This partnership reaffirms the city’s commitment to equality and to strengthening public policies that transform the lives of women and their communities.

An open and free space for everyone

The Care Pavilion will be free to enter and is aimed at both those accredited to the Conference and the general public. The program includes more than 50 activities: talks, workshops, art exhibitions, multimedia presentations, cultural and community activities, as well as strategic meetings such as the Membership Breakfast and the Alliance General Assembly.

Two venues and free transportation

The Pavilion will be held at two venues:

  • August 10-12: Former College of Santa Cruz de Tlatelolco – Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Mexico (Almacenes 92, Tlatelolco, Cuauhtémoc, Mexico City)
  • August 13-15: Nezahualcóyotl Center for Intercultural Studies (CEIN) – Secretariat of Indigenous Peoples and Neighborhoods and Resident Indigenous Communities (SEPI) (C. Nezahualcóyotl 29, Col. Centro, Cuauhtémoc, Mexico City)

Between August 13 and 15, free transportation (15-minute trip) will be provided between the official venue of the XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean (CRM), the City of Care, and the Pavilion.

Participation in the official program of the XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean (CRM)

In addition to its own program, the Global Alliance for Care and its membership will play a prominent role in the official program of the Conference. In total, 36 of the 48 official side events are organized by members of the Alliance.

Among the official side events is the one organized by the Secretariat: “The Global Alliance for Care: Advancing the care agenda in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the world” – Thursday, August 14, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Jesús Terán Auditorium, Antiguo Colegio de la Santa Cruz (Mexico City).

A collective effort

The Care Pavilion is made possible thanks to the support of Alliance members such as Avina Foundation, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), Fondo Semillas, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Analysis Group for Development (GRADE), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Simone de Beauvoir Leadership Institute (ILSB), Oxfam, and The Hunger Project.
